Anticipating Arrivals: Hope
Today is the first Sunday of Advent. Hope is the theme of the first week. Hope is a distinctly futuristic way of thinking. It is light-seeking. Hope is the basis for remembering what the future can be. To be without Hope is to let darkness overtake our hearts. I have heard people (media?) dismiss Hope and say it is for dreamers or that Hope is not active enough to cause change, however small. But warnings about word usage come with specific intentions either valuable and relevant for the day and times we live in, or they can be to snare our thinking and slow us down– making sure we follow scanty breadcrumbs and doubt ourselves.
I choose Hope. Every. Day. I lean in and trust that something good is coming and will arrive. My hopeful thoughts precede my actions and cause me to live as though what I hope for is already present. Though we live in chaotic and dark times, we can always move towards the light. We can act as if the future we envision is already here.
I wonder what's coming. I can tell you that what's coming is our design. How will you design your world?
Another Kind of Holy Family
I like the image above of my husband's high school graduation for its honesty. The picture isn't moving like in the Harry Potter world or in the recent innovative live photos we are used to by our phones, but it is very much alive because it has frozen the expressed emotions of each individual so beautifully. The picture would never win awards, but I mean to point out that it encapsulates another kind of holy family: every family.
Wishing every (holy) family a beautiful week.
*Peace and Blessings,
Bridget😇
